You've Got Mail
A charming musical that's perfect to see in the holiday season, this play inspired both movies; The Shop Around the Corner and 1998's You've Got Mail. Now, headed to Spokane Civic Theatre this coming holiday season, join in with the two adorable lonely hearts seeking love - but unaware that they are writing to each other!
What is the story?
She Loves Me was written by Miklos Laszlo and set in a luxury perfume shop in Hungary, where the two main clerks constantly bicker with each other, not realizing that they are in fact in love with the other, through their passionate letter-writing campaign. A popular theme for romantic adaptations, three major projects used the storyline, including the musical production and the 1940 film The Shop Around the Corner starring James Stewart and the 1949 Judy Garland-Van Johnson musical In the Good Old Summertime. In 1998 the story resurfaced once again in the Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan vehicle, You've Got Mail, replacing old-fashioned letters with emails.
