Why see Sex With Strangers?
The fierce sex drama by Laura Eason heads to the Capital Rep
First making its New York premiere off-Broadway in 2014 with Anna Gunn and Billy Magnusson, Laura Eason's engrossing portrait of sexual desire and online presence makes its Schenectady debut this September at the Capital Repertory Theatre. Originally helmed by David Schwimmer, directing duties for this staging will be taken over by Maggie Mancinelli-Cahill. A direct and simply drawn two-hander, Sex with Strangers asks us to imagine our own reactions to a chance romantic entanglement which throws up all manner of latent wants and desires.
Two writers who find themselves stranded at a snowed-in motel bond over their different approaches to their craft. Alone with their desires and their WiFi, they discover a fierce attraction to each other, and that the grass isn't always greener on the other side.Despite both being successful, attractive and ambitious, they both want the success of the other, finding attraction in their differences.
